dinner @9pm

All in all, it was a pretty fun Orientation Night. I had an England flag painted on my cheek (I smudged it accidentally one hour later -.-)!
And yes, dinner was served only at 9pm. You had no idea how hungry everyone was.
The night was full of singing, games, performances and an Icebreaker Bingo. We all cheated a bit, of course. :P

Unfortunately, back to classes tomorrow morning. :(

haunted

CNY is, well, around the corner. Unfortunately, CNY 2011 is going to be a quiet one for me. Most of my relatives, who are in Singapore, have decided not to come up due to my aunt's weak condition and we're too lazy to make a trip down because it would mean a lot of arranging (again) on the pets and the house.

However, this quiet CNY would not entirely be a peaceful one for me either, as I would have to do a lot of studying to prepare for the upcoming quizzes/midterms. This especially applies to my Computing Principles, a subject I would've gladly exchanged for a science subject (Biology!). I would also have to start on assignments which, coincidentally, are all due the week right after the CNY holiday. Finite Math is also proving to be a little tougher than I expected. Math isn't really my strong subject either. The only reason I have been able to cope with A.Math (and even enjoy it) was because of my dear tuition teacher, who made doing A.Math simple! Even English, which I have always regarded as my strongest subject, is turning out to be a little different. Basically, the bar has been raised and consequently, I'm screwed if I don't start studying (I haven't damnit)!
Also, this means that I'll be getting less angpows this year and I can just forget the idea of buying a cheongsam. What's the point of wearing it when I'll probably be spending most of my time at home? :(
My sweaters are a good reminder to hit the books because they not only smell of KFC and McDonald's, this shows that I spend too much time stuffing down fast food when I should be paying a tribute to the HELP library. But well, you cannot blame me for not being there yet, because it's situated at the other block and i'm honestly just too darn lazy to take the bus there. But, I'm planing to tomorrow and soon my sweaters will smell like Hermione Granger! -.-

anyway, time to snuggle. I have an English pop quiz tomorrow, which isn't even really a pop quiz since my lecturer let the cat out of the bag. -.-
oh, and there's an orientation night party tomorrow! For the theme I HEART FOOTBALL, Sharon Shalinee helped me get a jersey! :D ahaha.

Death.

I actually typed out a long post regarding Death, but then I decided to delete the whole thing because it feels a bit freaky.

So, in short, here's to my late uncle, who was a wonderful son, father and uncle. He was always the life of the party and who would never fail to make me laugh whenever I see him. He will be dearly missed.

red.yellow.green

Week Two is almost over, with a lucky Thaipusam holiday in between.
So far I've gotten rather used to college and the classes, and I'm starting to enjoy them more and more.
Friendships have been made and I think deeper bonds will be made during the execution of a certain Malaysian Studies assessment that will have to be presented in about 3 weeks. :):

However, a later timetable from last year's have not stopped me from reaching HELP at almost 8.30am every morning. Dad always has to monitor his share market, so he has to be home at about 8.45 every morning. So far, McD's WiFi has been one of my new good companions, together with the Acer netbook.
I always feel a bit lazy when I bring the netbook to college, because it would mean
A) I would have to carry a bigger & heavier bag and
B) I will have to eat fast food for breakfast because McD and KFC are the only two places I know (so far) which provides free WiFi and food.
Next time I shall just settle with a good old book & eat breakfast at home/starve myself or something.

Anyway, my timetable has been properly adjusted back to normal after the terrible disaster last Friday (let's just say I was class-less for about 15 minutes, and that was enough to scare anyone, OK!) and the old, wrongfully-bought edition of Computing Principles textbook was refunded kindly just today. I don't have to go around carrying a 100000lb. textbook anymore! :D

The Sports Carnival is coming up & I feel like joining Road Relay. I need a team!

P/S: I painted my nails turquoise! It's rather a shocking colour, as I've never coloured my nails with a colour this bright before. Oh and as you can see, I like the colour turquoise very much. :)

jelly legs

I AM NOT TOUCHING MY TIMETABLE EVER AGAIN.
I WAS SO WORRIED I SWORE I ALMOST PEED MY PANTS. =.=

week one

I am currently sitting in McD's right outside above the Main Building of HELP eating my breakfast, with only about 15 minutes to spare before I go for my Study Skills class.

College has been OK so far; I may even consider it as pleasant. But then again, it has only been the first week. So far, this is the one thing that hit me about college: you're all alone.
Alone in the sense that you've got no one to help you with your responsibilities anymore, you have to shoulder your own burden because, well, everyone else is busy shouldering theirs too.
When I look back, high school is what I call organised. Every event has been planned out by the Admin Board, and the events are brought in week-by-week/ month-by-month neatly. In college, everything is basically flung at you, and you have to sort it out yourself. I even have to have a checklist because I tend to forget things easily. :/

The people here are friendly and the courses aren't that bad (except for Computing Principles. I don't really look forward to the prospect of studying all about computers, but I don't have a choice). I am currently doing Foundation in Arts at HELP, and the subjects of my first semester are all core subjects. I'm taking Computing Principles, Study Skills, Intermediate English, Finite Maths and (who could forget) Malaysian Studies. Elective subjects only start during the second and third semester.

Foundation isn't as stressful as A Levels, so I don't think I have any complaints regarding the subjects I'm currently taking. The only complaint that I have is that the HELP Main Block is ridiculously long. If I am at the Lower Foyer and I have a class at LH7 right afterwards, I have to run about 2849827812839827 miles to get there. Also, it is freezing cold everywhere. I cannot walk around without a cardigan on or without a comfy warm pair of jeans on. But seeing as the Main Block is an underground building, you need plenty of air-conditioning to keep everyone alive.

And it's my cue to leave now. More about college next post. :)

P/S: The McD's breakfast set tea isn't all that nice. I'm going for coffee the next time.

fireworks

This is the only New Year's resolution I can come up with so far, and it's pretty simple:

1. I vow to be a better person.
2. I am going to study harder.
3. I am going to walk around with a smile on my face as frequently as possible & not be too lazy to greet anyone I know.

Because the more I come up with, the harder it is to keep track, and that results in me not following my resolutions, and then I'll feed bad.

belch

This is perhaps the most uncomfortable New Year's I've had to endure.
Since New Year's Eve, I've had to endure with constant stomach queasiness, & I apologise to Nick and Pei for having to listen to my moans of "Argh my stomach" every now and then. :(
(Tim you were out cold).

New Year's Day itself, I went to the doctor and found out I had food poisoning & have thus lost my appetite for a few days now. :(
I have a feeling the doctor gave me the wrong meds. There's a distinct difference between stomach pain and stomach queasiness. He kept referring to my queasiness as pain and prescribed me with stomach pain pills. I swear, I puke every time I swallow the meds. Ugh. :S
Do you have any idea how it feels to celebrate the New Year's with a case of food poisoning and several times of barfing? Let me tell you: not fancy.

But anyway, am feeling much better now. :)
I'm rather thankful that college doesn't start so soon for me (10th Jan) because then I'd have to go to college with still a bit of stomach queasiness. If I am to have butterflies in my stomach it would be because I feel excited and nervous, not because of my food poisoning.
